Your Childhood
I was born and bought up in Mumbai in a Jogeshwari chawl. My mother didn’t have much money to provide milk two times a day so she would resort to inserting a white cloth inside a bottle, fill it with water and feed it to me, in order to make me give the feeling that I was fed milk. I was born in a place where there were severe gender stereotypes but despite the fact, my parents secured my admission in an English medium school. An unforgettable moment in my childhood was when I had won a medal in a sack race competition and I remember the smile it brought on my mother’s face. That was truly the best moment for me which is why I have always kept her trust to keep her smile intact. I also have represented Mumbai on a national level in relay and long jump & throw ball.
Your journey so far…
I completed my schooling from Maharashtra University, selected science as a subject cleared my entrance exam as I wanted to be a doctor. I got admission in Pune for my medical studies, but I wasn’t able to pursue it as I learned about my mother’s illness. After some time when my mother recovered, I got admission in NL College. While I was studying, I took some time to be the throw ball coach in my college as the sport was my hobby. I also took tuitions to pay my college fees, which is why I didn’t bother my parents for the same. After my graduation, I started hunting for a job and through my friend’s suggestion, I applied as a trainee manager in Cipla Respiratory team and cleared the interview successfully. I had absolutely no clue about the pharma industry but within 45 days I was promoted to a higher position. This motivated me a lot and I kept my hustle on. I was promoted to an Area business manager and then to a Regional business manager. The senior team too, recognised my capabilities and gave me operations of Breathfree Digital Educator and Berok Zindagi across India. In mid of this the downhill of my life began. I got divorced; my mother passed away and I was diagnosed with cancer. My family and my work however, helped me pull myself together and I kept working hard. A little later, I lost my father due to COVID-19, and I was completely shattered. But my parents always wanted me and my siblings to flourish in life and so we keep their cultures and deeds intact.
