Saniya Kadree’s Journey from Wronged to Revered | Breaking Bars | PERFECT WOMAN MAGAZINE
Once wrongfully imprisoned for a crime she never committed, Saniya Kadree spent two years behind bars, where she transformed from a builder’s daughter into a champion for prisoners’ rights. Labeled a “female don” within the jail’s confines, Saniya turned this stigmatizing title into a powerful tool for advocacy, realizing the immense impact of words and using them to ignite change.

Today, Saniya is not just a builder of infrastructure but of lives and futures. As the Chairperson of the Kashmir Grappling Committee, she’s channeling her leadership to uplift Kashmiri youth through skill development and sports, while also dedicating herself to the welfare of children and the empowerment of women prisoners. Her appointment to the Grappling Committee marks a pivotal step in nurturing the sport at the grassroots level in Jammu & Kashmir, with her vision set on creating pathways for athletes to achieve national and international success.
But Saniya’s impact reaches far beyond the sports arena. Her social initiatives span across empowering women and children in Kashmir, fostering hope and opportunity in communities often overlooked. Professionally, she is spearheading the development of Sanatan City in Ayodhya—a 500-acre project where the ancient Gurukul system and Sanatan practices will be revived and celebrated.
Reflecting on her journey, Saniya shares, “When I was in dire circumstances, Krishna and Rama and music helped me heal. I want to pay forward my gift of life.” A self-taught singer with a love for bhajans, Saniya’s story is a testament to resilience, the healing power of faith and music, and the profound transformation of personal adversity into a force for societal good.
