Is it true that having been born to a piano teacher, you started studying to play piano at the age six, and was accepted at Conservatoire de Paris in Paris at age 12? My dear friend , it is a wrong question since the truth is that my mom was a school teacher in Mumbai After finishing Conservatory after working as an accompanist and session musician, where did you start working?I worked as an Assistant Director at Vishesh Films and produced a Film and was the Executive Producer on a few films.
Tell me something about the music label Break The Noise Records? Just last year in 2020, we three- Rishi Rich, Kiranee and myself decided to form the group since we felt that we need to give opportunities to new artists as there is so much talent out there but unfortunately their voice is not at all able to reach the general public due to lack of opportunities provided.
Tell me In what way are you associated with the making of the single Zakham?
I directed the music video Zakham for our own Label Break the Noise Records.
How did you zero in on the singer Rush Toor for the album and also Jagtar and Shrishti Vyakaranam who have acted in the music video Zakham?
We decided that this particular song should be sung by a rapper and not go the traditional way of Indian vocals hence Rishi spoke to Rush Toor and Zakham came to life. Jagtar was down from UK to record a few songs for us, and I wanted to cast him but intially was not sure if he would do it but at the end he was more than happy to be a part of Zakham.
And what about the casting of Shrishti Vyakaran?
Srishti Vyakaran casting was a bit difficult as I was looking for a girl with beautiful eyes and then one day I met Shristi through a friend and I just knew that she was the perfect fit to do this role.
What message does the album Zakham drive home to the audiences?
The message that we have strived to drive down thorugh the music album Zakham is that life as such is meant to be lived in the moment and we should always try to find the best moments in every situation
Are you also toying with the idea of composing music for Hindi films in India? Rishi Rich has always been delivering massive hits through Hindi films and will continue to do so.
Who are your favorite singers in India? Currently my favorite singer in India is none other than Jubin Nautiyal
How would you describe your music album Zakham?
I’d say that Zakham is a unique piece in the Indie pop space. At Break The Noise Records we make virgin soulful music with young upcoming artists , Rishi Rich is known to create brilliant music without leveraging the bigger names. In fact, O would say that he believes in working with new artists and give them a platform based on their talent .
How did you cast Jigar in the video? When RR first played the tune of Zakham both me and Kiranee (Partner at BTNR) were like this is the original Indie Pop , together we decided that this song deserves a video release , we wanted it to look Regal , Kiranee suggested we cast one of our Artist Singers Jagtar in the Video , as he had the perfect Punjabi Munda Vibe . It did not take me too long to stage the entire anatomy of how I want the Music video to look , I immediately started looking for a location to fit my visuals , after a couple of days a scouting I found a Gem – India has such beautiful locations which are so underrated ,I wanted a Rustic Mughal rundown Palace and I had found just that ,
Is it true that your creatiivity works best inder pressure?
Yes. I realised during this time that my creativity works best under pressure , and this time the test was running against time with only a day to shoot as the palace was starting renovations the very next day , but now when I am on the other side of completing the video I feel content , but having said that the Hero of our label remains our Music , which is so unique and International .
Can you tell me wat exactly is the secret of your album Break The Noise?
Every shoot is unique , it is a sum of so many different energies that have to come in Sync , I just wanted this shoot to be fun , the entire flow was an amazing team effort , when the environment is kept light everyone performs their best , I must compliment even my assistants were Vibing on the song through the shoot which just kept me so recharged . Looking forward to getting a lot of love from the audience for our little contribution to the music space .
