Madhubanti Bagchi

After the success of her debut Bollywood number, Barbaadiyan from the film ‘Shiddat’, Bengali sensation and Bollywood singer Madhubanti Bagchi is back again with another dance number, ‘Bajao Bansuri’. In 24 hours of dropping, the song had already caught waves. Starring Rajkumar Rao and Kriti Sanon, the song is from the film Hum Do Humare Do. Time and again, Madhubanti has showcased her versatality singing some of the most varied genres like ‘Shayad’, ‘Rehne Do Zara’ and ‘Ab Ke Sawan’
Hailing from a Bengali family, she has always been close to her roots and curated independant music in her mother tougue too. With songs like ‘Egiye De’ and ‘Kichhu Chaini Ami’, her music has gained immense recognition. She has always believed in what she does and she puts her heart and soul into it. Fom independent music to singing opening tracks for OTT series, she has proved her way up the Bollywood ladder. Every piece of music that is sung by her is carefully synthesized, thought over, and sung from the heart.

Q1. When did you first think that you want to get into singing? Was it a childhood dream/passion?
I had no prior wish to become a professional singer to be honest but I had always been very diligent with my riyaz. I have received the best of training from my guru, Vidushi Subhra Guha. And after completing my MTech in engineering I decided to give music a try professionally.
Q2. How did you get into the singing space, did you have any affiliate or any background?I just appeared for auditions that were being held across studios. Thankfully the composers liked my voice and I landed quite a few projects.
Q3. Your recent music into Bollywood has created waves, what all do we expect in the pipeline?I’ve started composing my own songs so those are going to be releasing one by one. And I’ve had the good fortune of working with some of the best from Bollywood, but the release dates are yet to be announced.
Q4. What do you prefer more, Bollywood compositions and singing or Independent musicActually both are exciting in their own way. Singing bollywood compositions helps me expand my horizons as a singer by delivering what the composer wants from me. And in the independent scene, one has complete freedom to compose or sing whatever he/she wants which is obviously very liberating.
Q5. Music has evolved over the pandemic, how have you adopted yourself to it?I think people turned towards social media a lot more during the pandemic. So, a lot of us were putting up music on our social media regularly, also because life had come to a stand still otherwise. So people got to listen to a lot of artists on social media who were not otherwise popular in the mainstream. And like most others of my generation, I too started doing the same since our music video work etc had come to a halt. But people started liking those raw home videos I used to put up and incidentally I gained a lot of followers doing that.
Q6. In the music fraternity who inspires you the most? And who is your perfect woman? I think in our music fraternity I’m hugely inspired by Sunidhi Chauhan. I’ve seen her perform a set a few months after having her baby and I was absolutely dumbstruck. She’s a great artist, a great performer and a great mother for sure! I think any woman who’s rising above societal barriers and achieving her dreams and goals is a perfect woman for me.
Q7. A message for the viewers of perfect woman magazineI wish all the women of Perfect Woman the best so that they can realise their potential and achieve the best in life and I hope the male readers of Perfect Woman would help the women in their lives become the best version of themselves.
